Spiral Sun

Spiral Sun

"Spiral Sun" is painted on an 8x10" Canvas with Acrylic paint, in Landscape orientation.

The colors used in this painting include shades of bright lemon yellow, marigold yellow, orange, turquoise, avocado green, rust and toast brown with hints of lime green and yellow ochre.

This work is available as Fine Art Giclee Reproductions on Paper or Canvas.

The first order of the day was to squeeze out a spiral of marigold yellow orange. I liked it so well, I let it dry in the shape in which it landed on the canvas.

Then I filled in with lemon yellow to make a wild sun ball. A few curves of turquoise in the middle of the sun make the spiral effect complete and extend to the rest of the sky. There is nothing literal about this sun. Yellow and lime green rays emanate from the sun to give a swoosh of movement.

The simple landscape below is vibrant in shades of orange, rust red and brown and green with yellow ochre highlights. A hill rises on either side. The foreground is simple, yet textured.

Whimsical and playful, the sun is having fun with us. It resists being confined, and is going to do its own non conventional thing.

Do you need this kind of energy where you go outside the box, outside the sphere, if you will, of how it's always done? Borrow it from "Spiral Sun."
