Ring of Light

Ring of Light

"Ring of Light" is painted on a 4x4" square Canvas with Acrylic paint.

The colors used in this painting include shades of bright yellow, lemon yellow, peach, orange, true red, fuschia, light pink, lavender, periwinkle, violet, purple, deep blue, cobalt blue, light blue, turquoise, teal green, grass green and lime green with pastel shades and white.

This work is available as Fine Art Giclee Reproductions on Paper or Canvas.

There's a lot of full spectrum color included in this my smallest painting to date.

My method was to start in the outside and the center with the full saturation of colors of the rainbow, adding white to blend to pastels. This strategy was employed in a somewhat similar manner with "Cloud Dance" on a much larger canvas, but with much different results. I love how that happens.

Because this canvas was so small, the bright white ended up being quite distinct and shaped like a ring, hence the name. It quite resembles a tie dye effect, an inadvertent ode to the 70's, perhaps.

As I was working, I was just thinking of little palettes of color. But after I was finished, from a distance, I noticed a shape that made me think of a bird, like a crest.

What do you see?

PS This also became a bit of a status symbol in its own right, as something along the line of a "brand mark." Check the back of one of my Fine Art Giclee Frameable Art Notecards, and you'll see.
