Painting "Serenity Rising" was a reward I gave myself for completing an organizing project. I didn't have too many distinct plans as I was starting out, but it didn't take long to give this work the meaning of order coming out of a darker place. I was pleased with the results.

This can be either literal or metaphorical, physical or emotional. Maybe it's both or all.

The edges of this pond-like place seem a bit jagged. Or on the flip side, the black, grey and white blades might just represent soft bull rushes in the shade of early dawn and not be menacing at all. The raspberry red shows hidden energy.

The center looks icy light and peaceful. It could be the reflection of the moonlight on ice or water, or it could be snow on a field.

A small white moon appears over the horizon, a subtle beacon of hope and light. Turquoise sky seems to signify the light of a summer day. White and lavender clouds streak from one side to the other.

In this painting as a whole, there is a contrast not only of light and dark, but perhaps also of summer and winter.

Tell me the meaning you read into this for yourself.
