"Firecracker Love" places first..!

The SAMMI Awards Foundation and artEAST Art Center have informed me that "Firecracker Love" has won first place - to be used on the  promotional materials for the annual event to honor noteworthy community members.. The Top Ten selections will be featured next month at the Key Bank up on the Sammamish plateau - beside Papa John's Pizza, across from the Safeway on 228th Ave NE. Mark your calendars:

• Artist Reception Tuesday : Tuesday, March 6^th 6:30 pm.  You will be able to view the Top Ten selections.  Wine and appetizers will be provided to celebrate the art and artists. Location - Key Bank in Sammamish across from the Safeway.
• SAMMI Awards Ceremony: Friday, March 16^th at 7:00 pm.  This is a big event honoring numerous people in the community. Location - Eastridge Church on the Issaquah Fall City Road.

The Sammamish Review (online) tells how the SAMMI Awards got started.. "The SAMMI Awards (Sammamish Acknowledges Magnificent Moments of Inspiration) stemmed from an idea four Sammamish residents came up with on Sept. 11, 2001 to bring something positive out of something so horrific, according to the organization’s website. The city was struggling to gain a sense of community just two years into incorporation. The award ceremony was the four residents’ solution to help integrate Sammamish residents by recognizing people who serve with compassion and inspire others. The show drew an audience of 40 people in 2001 and grew to about 400 in 2011." (from the Sammamish Review)
